Preceptor Check-In: Focusing on Learner Diversity


Misunderstandings or even conflicts can arise when preceptors and learners represent different cultural or generational groups. It’s important that we recognize lapses in our perspective and thoughtfully bridge those divides to provide a more effective learning experience. Attend this timely session to identify and address potential challenges in accommodating a learner’s generational, cultural, and/or religious needs.

Pharmacist Learning Objectives

At the completion of this application-based activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify potential challenging learning situations that may arise when precepting others.
  2. Explain the rationale for embracing diversity and providing accommodations that allow learners the opportunity to meet expectations.
  3. Illustrate effective strategies for addressing learners’ needs (e.g., generational, cultural, religious, language).
