Federal Pharmacy Forum: Federal Pharmacy 2020: Senior Leaders' Perspective

The Chief Pharmacy Consultants (or their designees) from the Defense Health Agency, U.S. Public Health Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of the Navy, Department of the Army, and U.S. Coast Guard will provide an overview of current issues of interest to federal pharmacist and pharmacy technicians. Topics will include pharmacy’s role in public health, delivering medication therapy management, optimizing pharmaceutical clinical and economic outcomes, and changes in organization operations.

Pharmacist Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe Navy Pharmacy's pivot to a focus on readiness, to include unique
  2. logistical challenges in distributed maritime operations.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between MEDIC X and the future of Air Force Pharmacy readiness.
  4. Discuss Army Pharmacy initiatives that promote a “Ready Medical” and “Medically Ready” fighting force.
  5. Describe two critical U.S. Surgeon General’s priorities pharmacists should be aware of and addressing in their practices.
  6. Describe how pharmacists are supporting and advancing our role as primary care providers.
  7. Describe the status of the joint VA/DoD EHR initiative.
