APhA Election/Meet the Candidates

The 2017 APhA Election officially opens for voting at approximately 5:00 pm (PST) on Friday. Meet the candidates for the APhA Board of Trustees and the APhA-APPM and APhA-APRS Elections on Saturday, 11:00 am-11:45 am, in the Exhibit Hall. Find out where they stand on the issues impacting your practice and the entire profession.

APhA Foundation

Visit our booth to learn more about the great ways the APhA Foundation advances patient care through pharmacy practice. We identify and recognize new models of practice. Our research provides data proving the critical role pharmacists play in achieving the best possible patient outcomes. Come by and show your support. You can purchase tickets for the Wine Tasting and Silent Auction and the Women in Pharmacy: Mix, Mingle, and Margaritas fundraising events or make a donation. Also, don’t miss your chance to see the prestigious Bowl of Hygeia Award in person!

APhA House of Delegates

The APhA House of Delegates sessions take place in the Gateway Ballroom of the Moscone Convention Center. All attendees are welcome to observe the APhA House of Delegates sessions; however, a Delegate ribbon must be worn to participate and vote in the House discussions. Delegates may visit the APhA House of Delegates page for more information.

APhA-ASP House of Delegates

Chapter Delegates must check in at the Convention Center Gateway Ballroom on Saturday by 2:30 pm to pick up their delegate materials and ribbon. Do not report to the APhA House of Delegates Office, which is for delegates to the "Big House" only. Arrangements for Persons with Disabilities

Scooters and wheelchairs are available for rental through Scootaround. Reserve your equipment in advance to ensure your needs can be accommodated. If you have a disability for which you may require an auxiliary aid or special service, contact Todd McDonald at 202-429-7547 by Thursday, February 23.

Attire

Business casual attire is appropriate for sessions and events. You may wish to bring a sweater or light jacket to sessions. Check the weather forecast prior to packing as you may require a jacket and umbrella. San Francisco average temperatures are 60º daytime and 40º evening.  

Bag and Ribbon Bar

Registration bags, Program Guides, Coupon Books, Annual Reports, Annual Meeting issues of Pharmacy Today, ribbons, neck wallets, and other materials are distributed at the Bag and Ribbon Bar in the APhA Registration Area. We encourage you to download the APhA2017 App for up-to-date information.

Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry

APhA has partnered with the Blood Centers of the Pacific to conduct our 8th Annual Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry, servicing San Francisco hospitals and helping 50,000 patients each year. Sign up for an appointment  (enter American Pharmacists Association as sponsor) or stop by the South Lobby in the Convention Center on Friday to sign up and on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to donate. Donating takes less than an hour and can save up to three lives per donation. To be eligible to donate blood, you must weigh at least 110 pounds and be healthy. 

The Be The Match registry offers you the unique opportunity to give a life-saving bone marrow transplant to someone in need. Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on Be The Match, the largest and most diverse registry in the world, to find a life-saving donor. To be eligible for Be The Match, you must be between the ages of 18 and 44, willing to donate to any patient in need, and able to meet the health guidelines. It takes 5 minutes to register in person: complete some paperwork, do a DNA cheek swab. That’s it! Over 70% of patients in need of a transplant do not have a matching donor in their family. Finding an unrelated match on the registry is their only chance at a life-saving cure for their disease.  Prefer to do the paperwork online? Fill out the form for a postage paid DNA cheek swab kit to be sent to your home.

By participating in the Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry, not only will you be making a difference in the community, you will also be entered into a daily drawing for fabulous prizes! Please consider making a donation and giving the gift of life!  

Bookstore

The Bookstore carries a comprehensive selection of professional books and textbooks. You will also find a wide range of APhA titles and merchandise at discounted prices. Quantities are limited. For information on APhA's digital resources, visit the PharmacyLibrary section of the Bookstore.

Button Game 


Discover many of the great things APhA is doing year-round to serve our membership! As you stroll down Main Street, collect a button from each of the booths and the Bookstore.
 Once you’ve collected eight buttons, stop by the Membership Booth for a chance to win one of three great prizes! 
The drawing will be held on Sunday at 12:00 pm in the Membership Booth. You must be present to win.

Charging Stations

Stop by the Charging Stations on Main Street and the General Session area to relax and recharge your phone, tablet, and other devices.

Children

Please note that children under the age of 18 are not permitted in the education sessions or the Exposition (to include the Opening Reception in the Exposition). This includes children in strollers and carriers.

Coat and Baggage Check

Coat and baggage check servicesa are available at the Convention Center for $2 per personal item and $3 for baggage.

Cyber Café & Wireless Internet

The Cyber Café provides complimentary access to the Internet to check e-mail, record CPE, and create your personalized itinerary with sessions, networking, and exhibitor visits. Complimentary limited wireless service is available in the concourse and meeting rooms of the Convention Center. No wireless service in the exhibit hall.  

Education Booth

Visit the Education Booth to meet the Education Team and for information about the education sessions offered at APhA2017, continuing pharmacy education (CPE), and other online and in-person educational activities.

First Aid and Nursing Room

First Aid is located across from Room 106 of the Convention Center. If calling from a house phone, dial 511 for emergency assistance. The Nursing Room is in South Bridge 2 of the Convention Center.

"Friends in Pharmacy" to Honor Paws for Veterans

We are honored to have representatives from Paws for Veterans with us during APhA2017. Paws provides psychiatric service dogs, training, and therapeutic group sessions to veteran and active duty men and women struggling with post traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Please give generously at one of the kiosks located at the Bookstore and outside of the General Sessions. Supporters may enter a drawing for a complimentary full conference registration to APhA2018, March 16-19, in Nashville. There are two ways to enter the drawing—donate a minimum of $5, or purchase the student T-shirt in the Bookstore. Also, look for the paw print floor logo at exhibitor booths—your badge swipe will equal extra donations from that exhibitor! Visit pawsforveterans.com for more information.

Government Affairs Advocacy Action Center Booth

Visit the APhA Advocacy Action Center Booth for information about 2017 legislative and regulatory issues facing the profession. Learn more about APhA's provider status initiative and the 115th Congress. Visit the booth to support the APhA-PAC and the Political Leadership Reception on Friday. Find out how you can make a difference!

Graffiti Wall

Channel your inner artist and make your mark on the interactive and colorful Graffiti Wall. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a new question will be posted—use your imagination and inspiration to answer with design and color. Once the wall is full, we will post the finished product for all to see.

Headshot Café

Visit the Headshot Café on Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 am–3:30 pm, for a complimentary professional headshot. Stop by Rite Aid Booth 817 during Exposition hours to receive your headshot voucher.

History Display

APhA met in San Francisco eight times before this meeting. Stop by to view our wonderful collection of memorabilia from our past visits and see how times have changed. Learn more about the interactions of early California pharmacy leaders with APhA, as documented by George Griffenhagen, APhA Archivist Emeritus.

Information Central


Visit Information Central located in the Convention Center North Lobby for special assistance on the Mobile App and information on conference activities. In addition, you can seek assistance from APhA staff, identified by their green staff ribbons and/or APhA shirts. 

International Attendees

The U.S. Department of State is the official United States visa information source with information about visa requirements, U.S. embassy and consulate locations worldwide, and wait times for visa interview appointments/processing. Travelers are advised to apply for visas well in advance of intended travel dates. Although APhA may not provide official travel endorsement, a Letter of Invitation is available by completing the Letter of Invitation Request Form

Any person who attends an APhA Annual Meeting event grants permission to APhA, its employees and agents (collectively “APhA”) to record his or her visual/audio images, including but not limited to, photographs, digital images, voices, sound or video recordings, audio clips, or accompanying written descriptions, and, without notifying such person, to use his or her name and such images for any purpose of APhA, including advertisements for APhA and its programs.

Shuttle and Walking Map

Please allow time for your shuttle commute. Due to construction and heavy traffic, the shuttle could take up to 30 minutes; the average walking time is 12-15 minutes between major facilities.  All official hotels are within walking distance of both Moscone and the Hilton HQ.  Click here for the Shuttle Schedule. Walking map routes are provided in the APhA2017 App and Program Guide. Please review the attached safety tips and city information to make your time at APhA2017 safe and secure.

Spouse/Guest Information

A separate registration fee for spouse/guest registration is offered. Included in spouse registration are the Opening Reception, Closing Reception, and Exhibit Hall. Note that the education sessions are not included, nor is CPE credit offered.
