Keynote Presentation: Walking a Mile in Your Patient's Shoes

Description

Health care is often expensive, inconvenient, and confusing for patients in the United States. Accessing effective and comprehensive health care can be particularly challenging for patients with multiple chronic conditions and functional limitations. Such patients are more likely to report unmet medical needs, are less likely to report good patient-provider relationships, and have higher health care costs. Understanding the patient experience of the health care system can allow providers to better respond to patient needs and develop more meaningful relationships. In this general session, BJ Miller, MD, will share his experiences as a patient and the insights he has gained for his own health care practice. You won’t want to miss this intriguing and eye-opening session!
