Federal Pharmacy Forum: Federal Pharmacy 2018: Senior Leaders' Perspective

Description

The Chief Pharmacy Consultants (or their designees) from the Defense Health Agency, U.S. Public Health Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of the Navy, Department of the Army, and U.S. Coast Guard will provide an overview of current issues of interest to federal pharmacist and pharmacy technicians. Topics will include pharmacy’s role in public health, delivering medication therapy management, optimizing pharmaceutical clinical and economic outcomes, and changes in organization operations.

Pharmacist Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss two current issues that impact federal pharmacy.
  2. Describe how the Defense Health Agency reorganization will impact beneficiaries and the Medical Treatment Facilities and their mission in improving medication therapy management.
  3. Explain how the Veterans Health Administration’s clinical pharmacy program is expanding the role of pharmacists
  4. Discuss the current status of the Department of Defense’s EHR initiative and the overall impact on service support.

 

Technician Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
